Safety Showers and Eye Wash units are plumbed-in fixtures designed as a first response measure to wash down workers that have been splashed or doused with a hazardous liquids or substances or wash the eyes or the face when the person have been splashed in the face accidently. These units are a must in situations where hazardous goods are stored, used, or transited these units should be there - protecting staff and contractors. All the emergency systems have been independently tested and certified compliant to Australian section5.1 to63 as well as ANZI Z358.1
There are 3 options: Free-Standing/Pedestal, Wall Mounted or Portable.
• Free-Standing – gives one the ability to mount the unit in an open area so it can be near the risk, easily visible and accessible to surrounding users.
• Wall Mounted – great in corridors, walkway and in situations where chemicals are being handled in a walled or workbench area.
• Portable – gravity fed and pocket Eye Wash units are great for mobile operators and smaller satellite sites. Chemicals can cause serious eye damage within 1-5 seconds, washing the eyes within a few seconds can avoid serious damage.
Installation should be in accordance to the ANSI Z358.1-2009 ruling. The Emergency showers and Eye& Face wash units should be installed close to potential risk areas, it should be reachable within 10 seconds maximum and the path to the facility should be well lit and clutter and obstacle free. Working with harsh and corrosive chemicals one should aim to put the units much closer to the potential risk area. Speed is crucial in dealing with first aid response regarding hazardous substances.
Using Vertek™ Technology – this technology was designed to create a Zero Velocity point. This reduces the waters velocity making it gentle and effective, helping to allow a greater amount of time in the flushing zone, which is important, especially when cleansing hazardous material out of the eyeballs.
